There’s a crippling fear that most of us have when we’re faced with the knowledge of hard days ahead. The clock seems to tick by minute by minute, each one longer than the last, making the days drag by until the inevitable moment is at hand.
It could be the last day at a job we love. The funeral of a friend recently passed. A court date representing a moment from our past finally coming due. A hard conversation with a spouse or family member. A date on the calendar that represents pain and heartache.
There’s two ways to live these days out. You can run. Or you can stand firm. Most of us run. It’s natural. Our brains are wired to seek safety. Standing firm takes courage. Strength. Sacrifice. And most of the time, we don’t have enough of anything needed on that important survival list.
God knew we wouldn’t and His encouragement is clear. Take my yoke. I am with you. Believe in the impossible.
If you feel like you can’t do it this week, drop to your knees where you’re at and quit running. God wants to help pick you up, straighten your posture, and turn around to face what’s coming. Together.
