I’ve started to take handwriting lessons.
It’s always been bucket list item of mine to have nice penmanship. In my life of tech, devices, and urgency, my handwriting has suffered and has literally become hieroglyphics.
What have I learned in my handwriting lessons? The “art” of slowing down. n order for your letters to look nice, you need to pay attention to each stroke of the pen. The way the pen moves on paper, the ink flow, the letter height and length–all of those things matter and you can only execute these things by slowing down and being mindful. There is no shortcutting or speeding through art. If we did do that, we would miss the beauty of the moment.
This was a good challenge and practice for me. Applying this “slow down” method to other parts of my life has granted me moments that I have appreciated with others, and also with God. If I stop to look at the sky, I thank Him for the beauty of His creation that is far wide and deep. This is God’s reminder to us that He is with us in every moment, and in this lightening speed world we live in we need to pause to reflect on this.
In what parts of your life are you needing to “slow down?”
